The Chandigarh’s excise and taxation department started the e-auction process for liquor vends’ allotment for the financial year 2024-25. The excise and taxation department fixed 6th March as the last date for the submission of bids to allot liquor shops.

In the new financial year, the Chandigarh administration has fixed 97 liquor vends to allot in its jurisdiction. In the new excise policy for the upcoming financial year, while the administration has kept most of the taxes and duties unchanged in comparison to last year, it has reduced the reserve prices of most liquor vends.

In a significant change from the previous excise policies, the administration has decided that CITCO would operate unsold retail licensing units after the final round of auctions is complete.
