Water is an increasingly precious and essential natural resource to process alcobev products across the alcobev industry. Diageo India has been working on to achieve water efficiency and to replenish water in areas with high water risk.

Diageo India’s water conservation initiatives are aligned to Diageo’s Society 2030: Spirit of Progress, driving the vision of enabling ‘Grain to Glass Sustainability.’ Under its initiatives, Diageo India’s Alwar distillery became the first distillery in Asia to earn Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) certification (Core), underscoring its commitment to exemplary water stewardship initiatives and contributing to sustainable water management practices in Alwar, Rajasthan.

Diageo India runs the Regenerative Agriculture Programme in partnership with The Nature Conservancy India. Under the programme, the company aims to equip over 5000 small-holder farmers in Punjab and Haryana with regenerative agricultural practices, thereby enhancing soil health, biodiversity, and water quality for a resilient food system.

Diageo India in collaboration with Gramodaya Samajika Sansthan (GSS) collaborates to accelerate the ‘Trees Outside Forest in Rajasthan’ (TOFR) programme in Alwar. Supporting the TOFR programme, Diageo India will plant 2 lakh trees to create mini-forests in Alwar, Rajasthan. The initiative is complemented by construction of check dams to promote environmental and social benefits like addressing the issue of reduced water shortage during dry months.

Diageo India’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) project aims to enhance access to clean drinking water and better sanitation facilities, which is expected to benefit over 12,000 community members and school children across 8 villages in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh.
