UP's revenue from liquor sale surges

The Uttar Pradesh government earned around Rs 47,600 crore revenue from liquor sale in the financial year 2023-24 as compared to Rs 41,250 crore in the fiscal 2022-23. This information was shared by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Excise and Prohibition, Nitin Agarwal, on 2nd April.

According to Agarwal, UP has more liquor brands as compared to Delhi. He added that strict action was being ensured in cases of over-rating at liquor vends in the state and authorities were strictly monitoring situations like over-rating and preventing manufacturing of hooch or spurious liquor, and prevention of smuggling of illicit liquor from other states to UP.

He also called on the public to report issues like over-rating of liquor to local officials and assured strict action in response to such complaints.
