Kerala contemplates to scrap dry days By Spiritz Desk 24 Apr 2024 in Alert New Update The Kerala government is contemplating to scrap the ‘Dry Days’ observed in the state on the first day of each month. As per the established practice, the state government has till now prohibited the sale of alcoholic beverages across the state on the first day of each month. As per the report on the matter, concerned authorities had discussions on the implications of the proposed plan to abolish the months' opening day as dry day. Additionally, discussions are in progress in Kerala government regarding the auctioning of alcobev outlets, promoting the establishment of micro wineries, and support for the production of alcoholic beverages used in baking cakes. The feasibility of leasing out retail liquor stores is under discussion. Rules and regulations related to labeling of alcohol intended for export will be revised in Kerala, the report added.
