In a significant move, the Gujarat government is reportedly considering easing liquor laws within the Diamond Research and Mercantile (DREAM) City, which is home to the Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB). DREAM  is the world's largest office space.

The proposed change would follow the model of GIFT City in Gandhinagar, where similar relaxations of the state's strict prohibition laws have been implemented. If approved, the modification would allow regulated sale and consumption of alcohol within the confines of DREAM City.

Reports indicate that the state home department, along with other concerned authorities, will draft specific guidelines to govern these changes. An official announcement could be made within the next few months if the proposal receives approval from the top authorties.

The move is seen as a potential boost for the commercial hub, aligning it with international business standards while catering to the needs of its global clientele.
