Haryana starts e-auction of liquor outlets

Haryana initiates e-auction for liquor outlets in eight districts, with the process wrapping up by May 28. Concurrently, a new excise policy raising duties has been approved, effective from June 12, aligning with ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Liquor shops in border areas of Karnataka proposed

Haryana’s excise and taxation department has started the e-auction for 1,197 liquor outlets in eight districts of Haryana, from 27th May. The auction process is expected to be concluded by 28th May in  Gurugram west, Mewat, Panipat, Hisar, Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Rohtak, and Jhajjar districts.

While a model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha election is in force in the state, Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s cabinet has approved a new excise policy with an increase in excise duty for the financial year 2024-25. The policy will come into force  from 12th  June . The auction of the liquor outlets in Haryana will be of four rounds.
