Telangana Prohibition and Excise Department has set clear guidelines for alcoholic beverage consumption at private home parties in the state.

According to the applicable regulations, parties held at homes in the state do not require a permit as long as the amount of alcoholic beverage served is limited to six bottles or fewer. This rule is designed to accommodate smaller, personal gatherings without the need for formal permission.

The Prohibition and Excise Department has also ensured stricter regulations for events in Hyderabad involving serving of alcoholic beverage. There event organisers must now secure prior permission before serving alcoholic beverage at any gathering, whether public or private. Failure to do so could result in prosecution for both the organiser and the venue owner.

The department is actively inspecting hotels, farmhouses, and licensed venues to ensure compliance. Additionally, organisers must also ensure that no alcoholic beverage is served to minors, defined as anyone under the age of 21 according to the department's rules. This directive extends to pubs, bars, restaurants, retail liquor outlets, and microbreweries in Telangana, all of which have been issued the directive.

Moreover, permits are required for events held within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, with fees starting at Rs 10,000 per day.

Higher charges apply for events in star hotels or in those facilities in Telangana which are categorised under sports, commercial, or entertainment. The application process is conducted entirely online, with no need for intermediaries.
