In a historic achievement, Kamal Malik has become the first Indian to earn the prestigious Master Sommelier title. This milestone underscores his exceptional expertise and dedication to the world of wine.

Kamal is being awarded Master Sommelier Certificate with five other individuals- Paul Fauvel, Paul Robineau, Andres Aragón Pérez, Bertrand Lutaud, and Kevin Lu Kai Wen.

Kamal 's journey to this esteemed recognition is marked by a series of notable accomplishments. He first gained recognition by winning the Hilton South East Asia FB Masters Sommelier Cup in Jakarta, in 2015. His educational background includes a Diploma with Merit in Wines and Spirits through the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and advanced certifications from both the Court of Master Sommeliers and the Sake Sommelier Association.

Malik's achievement as the first Indian Master Sommelier not only highlights his personal success but also brings international recognition to the Indian wine community. His accomplishment serves as an inspiration for aspiring sommeliers and a testament to the growing prominence of Indian professionals in the global wine industry.

In addition to his certifications, Malik has garnered accolades for his high scores in various sommelier exams and completed an internship at the renowned Chateau Beaucastel in Chateauneuf du Pape.

The Court of Master Sommeliers Worldwide comprises of two Chapters - Europe and Americas. The Europe chapter conducts courses and examinations in the UK, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Austria, Greece, South Africa, India, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand. The Americas chapter conducts courses across North and South America, and Korea.
