Sake Pairing Seminar Boosts Cultural Exchange in India

The Sake Pairing Seminar and Business Meeting, organized by Hirohama India Pvt. Ltd. and endorsed by Japan's National Tax Agency, was held on July 16, 2024. The event, a resounding success, brought together key figures from the sake industry, top restaurateurs, and hoteliers to enhance sake's presence in India.

The seminar began with a welcome address by Kojiro Honda, the import coordinator of sake in India, who highlighted the current status and challenges of sake in the Indian market. Following his address, renowned sake sommelier Mika Eoka captivated the audience with an in teractive presentation on the art of sake pairing.

The tequila market is projected to show a CAGR of 18-20 percent over the next five years. Sumedh believes that the super-premium and ultra-premium categories, on their smaller base, will grow faster in India.

 

Participants, including importers and restaurateurs from top Japanese establishments in Gurgaon and hoteliers from prestigious hotels, responded enthusiastically. Chef Manjit Gill, chairperson of the Indian Federation of Culinary Associations, added prestige to the event with his presence.

Notably, Japanese YouTuber and social media influencer Ms. Mayo, known as Mayo Japan, attended, adding an extra layer of cultural exchange.

The seminar was followed by a business meeting where participants discussed potential collaborations and strategies to promote sake in India. The event indicated a promising future for the expansion of sake culture in India.

Earlier this year, Hirohama India organized Miss Sake India 2024, and in June, the winner, Miss Menakaa Rai, visited Japan for promotional activities. Hirohama India plans to continue hosting similar events, aiming to have sake on every table in India.
