Nobuhiro Torii, the Executive Vice President of Suntory Holdings, has been promoted to the position of President. He will be succeeding Takeshi Niinami, who will transition into the role of Chairperson with representative rights.

Nobuhiro, aged 58, will become the first president from the founding family since Nobutada Saji, who held the position from 2001 to 2014 and is the present Chairman. Torii is the great-grandson of Shinjiro Torii, who founded the company’s predecessor Torii Shoten in 1899.

After four successive presidents from the founding family, Takeshi, aged 65, became the first president outside the family in 2014.

Nobuhiro joined Suntory in 1997 and has since held several prominent roles, including President of Suntory Beverage & Food, before being appointed Executive Vice President of the holding company in 2016.
