THSC and Visa to elevate India's tourism sector

The Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Visa. The MoU aims to significantly contribute to the skill development of Indian youth across 10 states, including Assam, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and others.

 The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (I/C), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The event also saw the participation of Kelly Mahon Tullier, Vice Chair and Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer at Visa.

The MoU was officially signed by Rajan Bahadur, CEO of THSC, and Sandeep Ghosh, Group Country Manager for India & South Asia at Visa. This agreement sets the stage for a series of training programs and initiatives aimed at up skilling the workforce in the tourism sector, thereby contributing to the country's economic development.

Speaking on the occasion, Jayant Chaudhary emphasised the importance of skill development in driving India's tourism industry forward. He commended the partnership for its potential to create meaningful opportunities for the youth and for its role in enhancing India's global tourism appeal.

Kelly Mahon Tullier expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting Visa's commitment to empowering communities and driving economic growth through strategic initiatives. She noted that this partnership aligned with Visa's broader mission of supporting skill development and fostering inclusive growth.

The collaboration will focus on training individuals in critical roles such as tour guides, customer service representatives, and paragliding pilots, thereby elevating the overall tourism experience in the country.
