Whisky finished in ex-Madeira hogsheads released

The Wolfburn Small-Batch 204 has been released. The release has been matured for five years in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, and thereafter finished for six months in first-fill ex-Madeira hogsheads.  The result is an exceptionally sweet whisky with an extraordinary depth of flavour; rich in colour, warmth and vibrancy.

On the nose, the liquid reflects rich dessert wine aromas, augmented by deep bourbon sweetness. On the palate, gentle notes of burnt sugar lead the way, overlaid with hints of soft oak and vanilla tones. Hazelnut and gentle hints of orange are present too. At the finish, sweet tones linger on the palate and gradually melt away, leaving a wee trace of honey and butterscotch at the very end.

The whisky is available for purchase at £64.00 on the company’s website, at 70CL.
