CIABC makes pragmatic suggestions for the forthcoming excise policy

Delhi government has been requested by Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC) to remove those rules in the forthcoming excise policy for 2023-24, which have been allegedly discriminating against Indian-made liquor products and are promoting imports.

The representative body for alcobev manufacturers called for improvement in norms of ease of doing business, simplification of new product launch process and digitisation of all operational processes. It requested for executing steps required for modernising liquor trade in Delhi, improving customer experience of liquor consumers in Delhi, and also for increasing government revenues.

The CIABC has also called for opening of private retail liquor shops and reopening of airport shops in Delhi, reducing drinking age from 25 to 21 in Delhi and also reducing the number of dry days in Delhi in sync with its neighbouring states among other thngs.

CIABC also sought addressing its request for permission to sell liquor stocks left over at the wholesale due to frequent change in Delhiā€™s excise policy during 2021-22 and 2022-23 and for clearance of old overdue payments to companies.
