Karnataka invites responses to lower drinking age

The Karnataka government has invited public response to reduce the minimum legal age for alcohol purchase and consumption in the state from 21 to 18 years.

The state government has proposed to bring down legal purchasing and consumption age for alcoholic beverages in Karnataka and in this regard a draft notification titled ‘Karnataka Excise (General Conditions of Licenses) (Amendment) Rules-2023 has been released last week for public consultations, which need to be done a time span of 30 days.
