Scottish government promotes SWA’s campaign

As part of the government's campaign to reduce alcohol abuse, Scotland's First Minister Humza Yousaf has promised to promote the Scotch Whisky Association's (SWA) 'Made to be Measured' campaign.

The SWA started a campaign in March 2023 to educate people about alcohol contents in beverages and offer advice on suggested weekly units. A recent survey, however, revealed that only about three-quarters of Scots are aware that the suggested weekly maximum was 14 units.

The SWA's governing board and the First Minister Humza Yousaf have subsequently met to talk about how business and the government might cooperate to promote responsible drinking.

Yousaf and the SWA also conversed about boosting tourism and promoting Scotland and Scotch whisky in foreign markets.
