HRAWI approaches Maharashtra govt to rollback VAT on liquor By Spiritz Desk 27 Oct 2023 in Alert New Update The Hotel and Restaurant Association(Western India) has approached Maharashtra government to rollback the recent 5 percent hike on VAT on liquor, which is to be served at bars and restaurants across the state from 1st November. To address the concerns of the stakeholders, the hospitality body has made a representation to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde and other ministers, requesting to revert the decision of the 5 percent increase in VAT on liquor served at the above-mentioned premises. In its representation, HRAWI has communicated that the recent hike in VAT will have adverse effects on restaurants and bars in the state, and on the state's tourism sector.
