Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed concerned officials to impose a fine of Rs 5 lakh on any liquor seller charging above the MRP for the first offence and cancel the shop’s licence if the violation is repeated.

CM Naidu stressed the need for strict enforcement of liquor sales at MRP and took a firm stance against unauthorised liquor outlets, instructing officials to penalise those supplying liquor to such outlets with the same fine and licence cancellation upon repeated offences. The CM also ordered officials to tackle non-duty-paid liquor (NDPL) and illicitly distilled liquor through stringent measures.

As part of monitoring efforts, CM Naidu instructed the installation of CCTV cameras in liquor shops and the setup of a toll free number for public complaints. He also called for a central monitoring system to oversee operations and directed that liquor prices be prominently displayed in all shops.
