Diu bans liquor consumption at tourist spots

The Diu administration has issued an order banning alcohol consumption at major tourist destinations, including Ghoghla Beach, Nagoa Beach, Diu Fort and St. Paul’s Church, for the next 60 days.

The notification issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita cites growing concerns over unruly behaviour by tourists under the influence of alcohol. Instances of public drinking, discarded alcohol bottles, and violent altercations have prompted this action.

Officials highlighted the risks to families visiting these popular locations, including potential harm from broken glass, fights, and property damage. The ban aims to ensure safety and maintain law and order in the district.
