In a significant development for India’s alcohol beverage sector, the foundation stone for Pernod Ricard’s new malt distillery is set to be laid on October 7, 2024, in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
The event will be attended by key dignitaries such as Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, State Industries Minister Uday Samant, and Jean Touboul, CEO and Managing Director of Pernod Ricard India.
In February 2024, Pernod Ricard India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra Government to establish one of the largest malt distilleries in India. The distillery will be situated in Butibori, an industrial hub near Nagpur.
This project is expected to create employment for around 700 to 800 workers during both the construction and operational phases. It is also projected to generate a significant number of indirect jobs, contributing to the local economy and promoting regional growth.
