The Supreme Court has issued notice on bail pleas filed by BRS leader K Kavitha in cases being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor gate.

A bench headed by Justice BR Gavai issued notices to the ED and CBI seeking responses from the two probe agencies.

During the hearing, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi appearing for Kavitha submitted that she had been behind bars for five months, and that chargesheets were filed in both cases.

After hearing the matter, the bench issued notices to probe agencies but refused to pass an order on the plea seeking interim bail for Kavitha, stating that the same cannot be done before hearing the case. The court will hear the matter next on 20th August.

The ED arrested Kavitha from her residence in Hyderabad on 15th March in a money laundering case, while the CBI arrested her in Tihar jail in a corruption case. Kavitha is in judicial custody in both the cases.
