The Telangana government is reluctant to increase liquor prices, despite a state -appointed committee’s proposal and requests from alcobev producers, say reports.

The three-member committee recommended a hike of Rs 20 hike beer and Rs 30-40 for other liquors, suggesting revisions every two years. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy rejected a plea from the Brewers Association of India to raise beer prices.

Earlier, reports suggested that the state government was considering increasing liquor prices with revisions based on higher prices in neighbouring states like Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
