Chhattisgarh to introduce digital payment in liquor vends

In a bid to ensure transparency, Chhattisgarh government plans to implement a cashless payment system in liquor stores. New payment system aims to prevent liquor vends from exceeding set prices, address change-related issues, and save customers' time.

As of now, liquor sales in the state are enabled through the QR code on each bottle and cash payments.

With the implementation of online payments and UPI-based cashless transactions, liquor stores in the state will no longer be able to exceed the set prices. Moreover, the sales process will be more organised, leading to reduced crowd at liquor counters, and help in saving customers' time.

The Chhattisgarh State Marketing Corporation Limited is leading the effort to implement this system. In the initial phase, premium foreign liquor stores in Chhattisgarh will start accepting payments through POS machines, using credit or debit cards.
