Arunachal Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein, recently inaugurated a new line of traditional Adi Apong rice wines, crafted by Siang Beverage Pvt. Ltd.

The launch event, attended by notable dignitaries, showcased two types of Adi Apong: Pijin Apong, made from black rice known locally as Amkel, and Poro Apong, produced from fermented rice mixed with paddy husk ash. Adi Apong, a rice wine traditionally prepared by the Adi community of Arunachal Pradesh is also recognised as a Geographical Indication (GI) product, highlighting its cultural and regional significance in Arunachal Pradesh.

On the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter), Chowna Mein congratulated the producers of Adi Apong and encouraged support for the state's indigenous products. He emphasised on the importance of promoting local traditions and applauded the efforts of Siang Beverage Pvt. Ltd. in bringing Adi Apong, a Geographical Indication (GI) product, to a broader audience.
