Viraj Bagkar wins India edition of Heineken Global Bartender Championship

United Breweries has announced Viraj Bagkar as the winner of the India edition of the prestigious Heineken Global Bartender Championship, a part of Heineken’s renowned Heineken Star Quality Draught program.

Viraj Bagkar will now represent India on the global stage at the finals in Amsterdam, on 28th November 2024, where he will compete against the finest bartenders from over 30 countries. This competition provides a unique opportunity to showcase India’s emerging talent in the global bartending arena, who would be demonstrating their mastery of the perfect draught pour.

Speaking at the event, Viraj said, "I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow and connect with such talented industry professionals. This experience has sharpened my skills and fueled my drive for excellence in every facet of my work." 

The search for the finalist to represent India at the Heineken Global Bartender kicked off in October 2024 and has since attracted enthusiastic participation from over 100 bartenders across the top outlets from Mumbai, Thane and Pune.

Wayne Wong from Heineken Malaysia, a globally certified Heineken draught master led the event, imparting crucial techniques to the competing bartenders. The training focused on the art of pouring the perfect Heineken Draught. The bartenders were trained in the key bartending techniques.
