47 alcobev firms seek nod to debut in Telangana
In a significant boost to Telangana’s liquor market, 47 alcobev companies are set to make their debut in the state, collectively proposing 386 new alcohol brands. In total, 92 companies have applied to launch 604 new liquor brands, with the remaining 218 proposals coming from 45 existing suppliers. Among the proposed brands, 331 are Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) variants, while 273 are foreign liquor labels.
According to the excise department, the Telangana Beverages Corporation Ltd. (TGBCL) received the applications before the final deadline of April 2. This follows a notification issued on February 23, inviting applications from domestic and international suppliers to introduce new IMFL and beer brands, aimed at broadening the range of choices for consumers.
The original deadline of March 15 was extended after several stakeholders sought more time to comply with updated documentation requirements.
