During the Delhi Assembly session on Tuesday, the Rekha Gupta-led government tabled the CAG report, revealing that the Delhi government suffered cumulative losses of nearly ₹2,000 crore due to the 2021-22 excise policy.
The report attributed these losses to a weak policy framework and deficient implementation. It also flagged violations in the process of issuing licences and pointed out that recommendations from an expert panel, formed to suggest changes for the now-scrapped policy, were ignored by the then Deputy Chief Minister and Excise Minister Manish Sisodia.
