The Union Home Ministry has given the approval to the Enforcement Directorate to prosecute former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ahead of Delhi elections, in a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped liquor policy.

This comes after a Supreme Court ruling in November 2024 which said the ED would need prior sanction to prosecute public servants. Weeks later, Kejriwal had approached the Delhi High Court to challenge the trial court's decision to take note of the chargesheet against him. He said the ED did not have the sanction to prosecute him.

Kejriwal and former Delhi Deputy Minister Manish Sisodia were arrested in money laundering cases and are currently out on bail. Both the leaders have trashed charges against them.
