Punjab approves new Excise policy
The Punjab Cabinet has approved the Excise policy for 2025-26, aiming to generate ₹11,020 crore in excise revenue—an increase of ₹874.05 crore over the previous fiscal year.
The government has reverted to its 2022 policy of allotting liquor vends through e-tendering, ensuring transparency.
While the quota for country-made liquor has been increased by 3 percent, it has remained unchanged for Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).
The policy also permits the establishment of new bottling plants in the state. Additionally, 207 groups (licencing units) will be auctioned under the new policy framework.
