Amrut Distilleries has launched Bella, 100 percent jaggery-distilled and matured single rum, in Gurgaon, Haryana. Initially introduced in the USA and Karnataka in September 2024, the company now plans to take Bella to more Indian and international markets.

Bella indian single jaggery rumThe name Bella holds deep significance, meaning ‘jaggery’ in Kannada. Crafted from nutrient and mineral-rich jaggery sourced from the fertile Sahyadri range and Mandya, Bella has been matured for six years in ex-bourbon barrels under tropical climatic conditions, resulting in a rich and complex profile.

More than just a rum, Bella is a tribute to India’s deep-rooted cultural heritage and marks Amrut Distilleries’ 75th anniversary. Its inception can be traced back to the visionary leadership of Shri Neelkanta Rao Jagdale (NRJ), fondly known as the Father of Indian Single Malt, whose passion for Indian heritage and craftsmanship laid the foundation for Bella’s creation.

Thrivikram, JMD, Amrut DistilleriesAccording to Thrivikram G. Nikam, JMD, Amrut Distilleries, the 100 percent Jaggery Rum was a long-cherished dream, originally envisioned by the late Shri Neelkanta Rao Jagdale himself. Back in 2012, he took this bold idea to the Karnataka Excise, which recognized its potential and granted India’s first-ever license to distill jaggery-based single rum, setting the stage for Bella’s journey.

With a fruity nose featuring coconut and vanilla interwoven with hints of marzipan and citrus, Bella unfolds into a chocolatey vanilla and green almond palate, finishing on a sweet and almondy note. Bella is priced at Rs 4,000 in Haryana.
