Richa Singh, CFO, Pernod Ricard India

If Richa Singh faces something that may seem daunting to many, she does not turn her back to it. Instead, she takes the bull by the horns and finds her way through. This can be reflected in her role as CFO of Pernod Ricard India, where she’s not just managing numbers; but reshaping mindsets, and paving the way for future leaders. Her journey— from building resilience through personal struggles to mentoring the next generation—reflects a deep commitment to growth, empowerment, and lasting impact.

The one thing that keeps Richa Singh’s spirits flying high is a good challenge. And she definitely does not turn one down when she sees a good one coming her way. That explains why after two decades of experience in finance and business leadership across consumer goods and medical technology, she took up, without hesitation, the offer of becoming the CFO of Pernod Ricard India, a bold leap into uncharted territory.

“I was ready for a new challenge; one that combined complexity, culture, and the potential to break stereotypes,” she says.

The alcoholic beverage sector, with its strict regulations and societal perceptions, offered exactly that. For Richa, it wasn’t just about numbers anymore; it was about reshaping mindsets and breaking barriers. Pernod Ricard India gave her the platform to not only drive strategic growth but also champion the brand’s ethos of conviviality and responsible drinking.

Forged In Resilience

Richa has made some tough choices in life—first, to walk away from negativity, and then to carve her own path, alone. When she made those decisions, she was standing by herself, managing moderate earnings while shouldering growing responsibilities. “When you have responsibilities, especially as a parent, there’s no option to give up. You just make it work. You push forward,” she says.

Richa stayed true to her purpose, pouring her heart and soul into her work and family, all while raising twin boys. It wasn’t easy, but the challenges she faced shaped her into the person she is today—stronger and more resilient. Today, any challenge—personal or professional—feels lighter, more manageable. Through it all, she has learned that resilience isn’t built in moments of ease; it’s forged when you have no choice but to keep going.

Brewing Change

The alcoholic beverage sector in India has long been maledominated, but that narrative is changing, and Richa is proud to be part of that shift. At Pernod Ricard India, women are not just participating, they’re leading the way. From innovation to research and development, strong women are driving real change, proving that this industry is no longer just a boys’ club.

“We take inclusivity seriously, employing women at every level and prioritising their safety and well-being through dedicated medical support and childcare facilities, but there’s still more to be done,” Richa states.

She firmly believes that if the government eases licensing, improves access to working capital, and simplifies taxes, more women entrepreneurs could step into this dynamic industry and thrive.

The Life Mantra

Richa’s mantra for balance is simple: Be present in the moment and give it your best. While steering Pernod Ricard India as Chief Financial Officer, she has worn many hats, navigating a demanding career while continuously expanding her horizons. Over the past few years, she has pursued a law degree and become a lawyer, and now recently has added ‘author’ to her list of accomplishments with a book titled ‘Powering Success, Shaping Leaders – The Mentor Advantage’.

Beyond work, Richa stays grounded through regular walks and workouts, and makes time for power breaks with her kids. “It helps me recharge,” she says.

According to Richa, balance isn’t about doing everything at once—it’s about focusing on what matters most in that moment. “Yes, it’s possible,” she says, “just not all at the same time.”

Empowering Growth

Throughout her career, Richa has found the greatest fulfillment in empowering others—whether by turning around a team member’s performance, mentoring emerging leaders, or fostering an environment where people can thrive. “Those moments of impact stay with me,” she reflects. “I still smile when I think about the countless late nights spent burning the midnight oil during my start-up days—moments filled with passion, grit, and learning,” she reminisces.

In her current role, leading the restructuring of finance processes and the organisation has been incredibly rewarding. Building capabilities within her team, preparing them to lead the company into the next decade, and guiding them through the usual business turbulences has given her immense satisfaction. It’s not just about driving results. As she puts it, it’s about empowering people and creating something that lasts. “By mentoring and empowering others, I hope to inspire people to redefine success on their own terms,” she says.
