Lizard King Brewing Co. set to open in Goa in October

Goa’s craft beer scene is set to welcome a bold new entrant with the launch of Lizard King Brewing Co., opening its doors on 26 October 2026. Positioned as a brewpub where beer, music and community intersect, Lizard King Brewing Co. aims to carve out a distinct identity rooted in craft brewing, rock culture and an unapologetically independent spirit.

Founded by brewer George Jacob, also known as “Royally Tanked,” the concept was inspired by a motorbike ride through a forest road and an encounter with a monitor lizard—an experience that shaped the brewpub’s raw and fearless ethos. Jacob, a Brewlab UK–certified brewer, brings over a decade of global brewing experience, having worked across breweries in the UK and India, with several award-winning and cult-favourite beers to his credit.

At its core, Lizard King Brewing Co. is firmly beer-led. The opening lineup includes Apple Cider, Mango Cider, Pilsner, Best Bitter, Irish Stout, Belgian Wit, Pale Ale, and a launch special Saison. The range spans classic styles and fruit-forward expressions, with an emphasis on balance, character and approachability. Signature beer-forward cocktails such as a stout espresso martini and cider spritz will also be part of the beverage programme.

The food menu complements the beers with a focus on elevated pub classics and local produce. Highlights include a selection of pies, fish and chips made with local sea bass, and chicken fried steak, alongside ingredient sourcing that prioritises Goan seafood, local produce and Indian malts.

Designed by Jacob himself, the intimate space seats 28 and centres around an exposed brewery plant, making the brewing process visible to guests. Industrial steel elements are balanced with dark wood finishes, vintage rock posters and a custom mural illustrating the brewing journey.

Positioned as a community-led brewpub, Lizard King Brewing Co. plans to host rider meet-ups, curated music nights and local collaborations. While the first year will focus on building a loyal local following in Goa, the founders see this launch as the opening act of a broader, multi-city vision in the years ahead.
