Indian single malt Amrut Expedition – 15 Year Old (YO) has been ranked the Third Finest Whisky in the World in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2025–26, marking a rare global honour for an Indian whisky and reaffirming Amrut’s place among the world’s elite whisky makers.

Amrut Expedition 15YO

The recognition places Expedition 15YO alongside the finest whiskies from traditional powerhouses such as Scotland, Japan, Ireland and the United States, making it not just the top Indian or Asian whisky, but one of the top three whiskies globally.

This achievement marks only the second time an Indian whisky has entered the world’s top three, the first being Amrut Fusion in 2009, a milestone that brought global attention to Indian single malts and helped establish the category on the world stage.

Crafted over 15 years, Amrut Expedition is India’s oldest single malt whisky, produced under challenging tropical ageing conditions once considered unsuitable for long-matured whiskies. Its global recognition highlights Amrut’s ability to deliver depth, complexity and longevity despite climatic constraints.

Rakshit N Jagdale, Managing Director of Amrut Distilleries

On the occasion, Rakshit N. Jagdale, Managing Director, commented, “This recognition is not about a single whisky or a single moment, it is the outcome of a belief we held when no one else did. Twenty years ago, we were told India could not produce world-class single malt. We chose to ignore that noise and focus on craft, patience, and conviction. Expedition standing among the world’s finest is not a surprise to us, it is validation. Amrut did not set out to follow tradition; we set out to challenge it, and in doing so, we helped change the global whisky conversation forever”.

From accessible global favourites like Amrut Fusion to ultra-luxury expressions such as Expedition, Amrut continues to push boundaries producing both India’s oldest and most expensive single malts.

The latest accolade is widely seen as more than a ranking, standing as a statement of India’s growing influence and credibility in the world of fine whisky.
