Maharashtra signs Rs 500 Crore MoU with Carlsberg
On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, the Government of Maharashtra and global brewing major Carlsberg Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a Rs 500 crore investment in the state. The agreement was formalised in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Carlsberg CEO Jacob Aarup-Andersen, reaffirming the Danish company’s long-term commitment to expanding its footprint in India.
The MoU, signed under the Maharashtra Pavilion at the WEF, outlines plans for a new brewery and related food & agro processing infrastructure in Maharashtra. It is expected to generate direct and indirect jobs, enhancing local manufacturing and contributing to the state’s economic growth.
On the signing, Carlsberg said the agreement underscores its commitment to responsible, sustainable growth in India, strengthening local production, supporting supply chains, and fostering employment while “brewing for a better today and tomorrow.”
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presided over the exchange of the MoU, describing the investment as part of Maharashtra’s broader vision to attract global capital and promote industrial development. This engagement builds on the state’s active outreach at Davos, where Maharashtra has already secured multiple MoUs with various companies across sectors including renewable energy, steel, IT, and logistics.
