Amrut Distilleries has unveiled Mumbai Chi Maaya, a limited-edition single malt whisky inspired by the spirit, resilience and cultural rhythm of Mumbai.

The Bengaluru-based distiller chose Mumbai as the muse for the expression for its unique ability to blend resilience, aspiration and optimism. The packaging prominently features the Gateway of India, symbolising endurance and renewal, alongside other iconic representations of the city’s character. Elements such as the Bombay Stock Exchange reflect the financial capital’s constant interplay of risk and opportunity, while Wankhede Stadium recalls moments of collective national pride, including India’s 2011 Cricket World Cup victory.

The design also pays tribute to the city’s unsung heroes, including Mumbai’s famed dabbawalas, whose precision-driven logistics system has become a global case study. A nod to the city’s unmatched pace, Mumbai Chi Maaya draws inspiration from Mumbai’s local train network, which transports more than 7.5 million commuters daily across a 450-kilometre network, serving as the backbone of urban life. Everyday rituals that define life in the city like conversations over vada pav, moments shared on railway platforms and sunsets along the Arabian Sea, are woven into the narrative of the release.

Commenting on the launch, Rakshit N. Jagdale, Managing Director of Amrut Distilleries says, “The ‘Mumbai Chi Maaya’ Edition is a tribute to Mumbai’s extraordinary spirit; its aspiration, endurance and everyday grace. From iconic landmarks and shared memories to quiet, personal moments, every detail in the pack and every sip honours our bond with a city where dreaming big is a way of life and reflects Amrut’s commitment to celebrating India’s roots and its remarkable cities through every handcrafted expression.”

Bottled at 48 percent ABV, a strength rarely seen in Indian single malts, the whisky offers structure, length and approachability on the palate. According to the company, the expression is bound to appeal to both seasoned whisky enthusiasts and new-age consumers.
