Archie Rose launches first age-statement whisky

Archie Rose Distilling Co. has unveiled its first age statement whisky with the third batch of its Single Cask Series, headlined by a six-year-old single malt.

Based in Sydney, the distillery’s Single Cask Series Batch No.3 features a trio of rare single malt whiskies, hand-selected from a pool of more than 35,000 casks. The latest release follows the successful debut of the series last year and is described as a showcase of the depth and craftsmanship of the distillery’s whisky-making programme.

The centrepiece of the batch is the 6 YO single malt, matured for over six years in an Australian apera fortified wine cask. Bottled at 50 percent ABV, the whisky delivers notes of dark chocolate-covered figs, raspberry jam and pecan pie, complemented by flavours of maple syrup, French pastries and subtle floral undertones. The expression is priced at USD 249.

Also featured is Toasted Amber Single Malt, distilled from toasted amber malt and aged in an American oak ex-Bourbon cask. Bottled at 54 percent ABV, it offers aromas of passion fruit, cookies and cream ice cream, and jelly beans, with a palate of pineapple, cinnamon muffins and chocolate malt notes. It carries a recommended retail price of USD 199.

The third expression in Batch No.3 is an exclusive single malt created specifically for the hospitality trade.
