Bordeaux Distilling introduces clear organic coffee liqueur
Bordeaux Distilling Co. has launched Brunette Clear in the UK that is described as the world’s first transparent organic coffee liqueur. The product aims to redefine how coffee liqueurs are produced and used, offering a clear alternative designed for both classic and contemporary cocktails, including visually transparent serves.
Brunette Clear is produced using by-products of the coffee-making process, specifically cascara (the de-pulped coffee cherry) and coffee blossom, both sourced from Guatemala. Each ingredient undergoes a separate two-week maceration in organic grain alcohol before low-temperature distillation using a rotary evaporator to preserve delicate flavour compounds. A third transparent distillate is created by pot-stilling a by-product from the filtration of the company’s Brunette Organic Cold Brew Liqueur. The three distillates are blended and rested for six months, during which the alcohol strength is gradually reduced to 22 percent ABV.

The liqueur contains no additives or colourings and has significantly lower sugar content compared with mainstream coffee liqueurs. It is positioned as a sustainability-led innovation in response to the global coffee industry’s substantial waste output, estimated at over 20 million tonnes annually. Brunette Clear is already being used in select international bars, including Little Red Door in Paris.
Distributed in the UK by Love Drinks, Brunette Clear is available in a 700 ml format. It is intended for neat consumption, serving over ice, or for use in cocktails like a clear-style Espresso Martini that delivers coffee flavour without the inclusion of espresso.
