Bowmore, Aston Martin reveal final ARC-54 release
Bowmore and Aston Martin have unveiled the second and final release in their iconic ARC Series: Bowmore ARC-54, an ultra-rare 54-year-old single malt whisky housed in a hand-blown decanter inspired by the sleek aerodynamics of the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar. This exceptional creation marks the pinnacle of a unique collaboration between the two heritage-rich brands, marrying the enduring elegance of Bowmore's distilling expertise with Aston Martin's cutting-edge design philosophy.
Distilled in 1968 and matured in a second-fill European oak sherry butt and a third-fill American oak hogshead within Bowmore’s legendary No.1 Vaults, ARC-54 is the result of meticulous ageing and a rare union of cask influences. With 61.8 percent of the spirit aged in European oak and 38.2 percent in American oak, the two were harmonised for 15 months to achieve a whisky of remarkable depth, complexity, and balance. The resulting flavour profile unfolds in waves of zesty citrus, salted caramel, delicate florals, and warming spices such as ginger and cinnamon, gently underpinned by Bowmore’s signature whisper of peat smoke.
Limited to just 130 decanters globally, ARC-54 is as visually striking as it is sensorially captivating. Its bespoke vessel, individually hand-blown, draws directly from the Valkyrie’s full-length Venturi tunnels and flowing aerodynamic lines, mimicking the interaction of liquid and air, while echoing the natural curves of Islay’s landscape. This sculptural decanter becomes a centrepiece of craftsmanship, merging liquid elegance with automotive artistry.
Dr Calum Fraser, Bowmore’s Chief Blender, called ARC-54 a testament to the power of patience and tradition, celebrating how Bowmore matures with unparalleled precision over time. Marek Reichman, Aston Martin’s Chief Creative Officer, echoed the sentiment, describing the decanter as a feat of design where the fluid dynamics of the Valkyrie inform the whisky’s visual and experiential journey.
With an ABV of 44.3 percent, the whisky offers a spun gold appearance and a symphony of aromas—from vanilla and butterscotch to tropical fruits and toasted oak. Its luxurious texture and long, smooth finish make it a profound, multi-sensory experience for collectors and connoisseurs alike.
Bowmore ARC-54 is available via select global stockists.
