Buffalo Trace launches Eagle Rare 12 YO Bourbon
Buffalo Trace Distillery has officially added a new aged bourbon to its Eagle Rare portfolio with the launch of Eagle Rare 12 Year Old, a 95-proof Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey. The release marks a key moment for the distillery as it concludes its $1.2 billion expansion project, which spanned a decade and included the addition of stills, fermenters, and expanded rickhouse capacity.
Eagle Rare 12 builds on the legacy of the popular 10 YO expression, offering greater complexity and structure. Like its sibling, the new 12 YO release is crafted from Buffalo Trace’s Mashbill #1, but benefits from two extra years of barrel ageing and a slightly higher proof, enhancing its depth of flavour. Tasting notes highlight sweet oak and almond on the nose, with layers of vanilla, toasted oak and warm toffee on the palate, culminating in a long and smooth finish.
At a suggested retail price of $49.99, Eagle Rare 12 provides a balance of age, quality, and affordability in an increasingly competitive bourbon market.
