Clydebuilt unveils six small batch single malts
Scotch whisky brand Clydebuilt has expanded its portfolio with the launch of six small batch single malt expressions, including three exclusive single cask bottlings. Produced by independent distillery Ardgowan, the boutique label continues to draw inspiration from the heritage of craftsmanship rooted in the historic shipbuilding trade along the River Clyde.
First introduced in 2019, the Clydebuilt range has steadily gained recognition for its authenticity and attention to detail. The distillery, based in Inverkip, filled its first cask with its own spirit and officially opened its doors to the public in June this year, following eight years of planning and construction.
Distillery Manager Laura Davies, whose 13 years of experience include mentorship under the late industry icon Dr. Jim Swan, developed the new expressions. All six whiskies are matured for 12 years in premium European oak sherry casks sourced from the renowned Speyside region and bottled without chill filtration or artificial colouring, staying true to the brand’s commitment to quality and transparency. The new range includes 12 Year Old Sherry Cask Matured expression (RSP £46.99) bottled at 46 percent ABV, and a higher strength 12 Year Old 100 Proof Sherry Cask Matured edition (RSP £64.99) bottled at 57.1 percent ABV, reflecting the traditional British 100 proof system. Another highlight is the 12 Year Old Official Opening Day Release (RSP £85), bottled at a cask strength of 59.5 percent ABV to commemorate the distillery’s opening on June 20.
Three single cask releases further enrich the line-up: the 2012 Pedro Ximénez Hogshead (RSP £85), bottled at 58.5 percent ABV with 352 bottles drawn from a cask previously holding PX Sherry; the 2012 Oloroso Hogshead (RSP £85), matured in a dry oloroso cask with only 342 bottles at 59 percent ABV; and the rare 2012 Manzanilla Hogshead (RSP £85), aged in a cask from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, offering a lighter maritime profile at 61.1 percent ABV with just 335 bottles released.
Clydebuilt whiskies will be available via specialist retailers in the UK, Austria, Belgium, Sweden and Germany, with retail prices starting at £46.99.
