Dalmore launches 17 YO expression in Principal Collection

Highlands-based Dalmore Distillery has expanded its core Principal Collection with the launch of a new 17 Year Old single malt Scotch whisky. Bottled at 42 percent ABV, the Dalmore Aged 17 Years is positioned as a permanent addition to the distillery’s portfolio, highlighting its long-standing expertise in cask maturation.

The whisky is initially matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks before undergoing a secondary maturation in a combination of Amoroso, Apostoles and Matusalem Oloroso sherry casks. These casks are exclusively sourced from González Byass, reinforcing Dalmore’s decades-long partnership with the Spanish sherry producer and its reputation for complex sherry-led styles.

Each cask type contributes distinct characteristics to the final whisky. Apostoles casks add structure, depth and savoury complexity, while Amoroso casks balance savoury and sweet elements. Matusalem Oloroso casks provide added weight, roundness and a lingering sweetness, creating a layered and harmonious profile.

On the nose, the 17 YO expression presents notes of Seville orange, rich orchard fruits and warming wood spice. The palate reveals flavours of poached pears, forest berries, sweet toffee and orange marmalade.
