Epic Cleantec launches beers made from recycled water
Epic Cleantec has launched beers brewed with highly purified recycled water sourced directly from showers and laundry systems. The two beers, Shower Hour IPA and Laundry Club Kölsch, are brewed with water processed through Epic’s onsite reuse systems, which capture greywater from buildings and treat it with state-of-the-art purification technologies. The result, the company says, is water “exceptionally pure” and cleaner than many conventional sources.
Epic developed the beers in partnership with Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company in San Carlos, California. The IPA also features drought-resistant and soil-enriching ingredients, underscoring the focus on sustainability from grain to glass.
“We’re giving people a fun, approachable way to see recycled water in a new light,” said Aaron Tartakovsky, CEO of Epic Cleantec. “If one great beer can change minds, imagine the impact when this technology scales.”
Devil’s Canyon CEO Chris Garrett said the project proves that high-quality beer can be brewed with ultra-purified recycled water, adding that the collaboration “changes the narrative around our most precious resource.”

Epic previously introduced the concept with its small-batch OneWater Brew in 2022, which gained global attention and was named a TIME Best Invention. The new launch marks the first time recycled-water beer is being produced and sold nationally.
The beers are rolling out at major retailers in California and will be distributed across 12 states and Washington, D.C. Consumers in eligible states can also purchase them online via Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company, with taproom availability beginning November 21.
