GlenAllachie unveils Sinteis Series
Speyside’s independent single malt distillery, The GlenAllachie, has introduced the Sinteis Series, a limited-edition line inspired by the art of blending and the Scottish Gaelic word for ‘synthesis.’ The series is anchored by the concept: “Two distinct casks. One harmonious synthesis.”
Led by legendary Master Distiller Billy Walker, who brings over 53 years of whisky-making expertise, the Sinteis Series showcases innovative cask maturation. The debut release, Sinteis Part I, is a 2014 vintage single malt matured in a combination of Chinquapin virgin oak and first-fill Pedro Ximénez Sherry puncheons, both hand-selected by Walker from the distillery’s stock of 50,000 casks across 16 warehouses.
Chinquapin oak, sourced from the Ozarks of Missouri, is known for imparting sweet spice and aniseed notes, while the Pedro Ximénez casks offer layers of dark chocolate and ripe fruits.
Sinteis Part I is bottled at its natural cask strength of 57.8% ABV, unchill-filtered and with no added colouring. It features striking packaging by Scottish designer Kayley Barbour, whose hand-drawn symbol in foil represents the fusion of multiple wood types.
Priced at £74.99 RRP in the UK, the release is now available at The GlenAllachie’s visitor centre and online store, with global availability set to roll out in the coming months.
Commenting on the launch, Billy Walker said, “The concept allows me, as a blender, the creative freedom to think up something out of the ordinary. Combining the familiar profile of Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks with the intriguing contribution of Chinquapin virgin oak makes for a delicious, multifaceted drinking experience. It truly is a synthesis of the bold and the beloved.”
