Gordon & MacPhail, the renowned independent bottler, has launched a remarkable 70 year old Glen Grant single malt as the fifth and final edition in its celebrated Mr George Legacy Series.

This release marks a historic milestone for the company, coinciding with its 130th anniversary, and pays homage to the visionary behind the collection, George Urquhart—fondly known as “Mr George.”

Gordon & MacPhail unveils Glen Grant 70 YODistilled on 24th April 1954 and laid down in a first-fill Sherry puncheon (cask no. 1823) by Mr George himself, the whisky has been maturing for seven decades under careful stewardship. It was bottled on 6th January 2025 at a natural cask strength of 50.5 percent ABV, with only 130 bottles available worldwide.

Mr George Urquhart played a pivotal role in shaping the single malt category, championing its potential at a time when blends dominated the market. Revered by whisky legend Charlie MacLean as “the father of single malt,” his legacy continues to influence the industry today.

The Glen Grant 70-Year-Old is described as a true reflection of his philosophy—celebrating the unique harmony between spirit, cask, and time. Mr George Legacy Series 1954 from Glen Grant Distillery is priced at US$10,850 and available worldwide.
