Gordon & MacPhail unveils Glen Grant 70 YO single malt
Gordon & MacPhail, the renowned independent bottler, has launched a remarkable 70 year old Glen Grant single malt as the fifth and final edition in its celebrated Mr George Legacy Series.
This release marks a historic milestone for the company, coinciding with its 130th anniversary, and pays homage to the visionary behind the collection, George Urquhart—fondly known as “Mr George.”
Distilled on 24th April 1954 and laid down in a first-fill Sherry puncheon (cask no. 1823) by Mr George himself, the whisky has been maturing for seven decades under careful stewardship. It was bottled on 6th January 2025 at a natural cask strength of 50.5 percent ABV, with only 130 bottles available worldwide.
Mr George Urquhart played a pivotal role in shaping the single malt category, championing its potential at a time when blends dominated the market. Revered by whisky legend Charlie MacLean as “the father of single malt,” his legacy continues to influence the industry today.
The Glen Grant 70-Year-Old is described as a true reflection of his philosophy—celebrating the unique harmony between spirit, cask, and time. Mr George Legacy Series 1954 from Glen Grant Distillery is priced at US$10,850 and available worldwide.
