Himmaleh Spirits, the craft distillery in Kumaon, has launched Hudka, India’s first Himalayan vodka. Distilled from pristine Himalayan spring water and local sativa rice in traditional copper pot stills, Hudka pays homage to the cultural heritage of the hills. Its name comes from the Hudka drum, played by Kumaoni storytellers known as Hurkiyas, whose rhythms preserved the region’s oral traditions.
The label design captures the waveform of an original Hudka rhythm, translating sound into visual art, a symbol of purity, place, and craft. “With Hudka, we’re putting the Himalayas on the global vodka map,” said Co-Founder Ansh Khanna, citing India’s USD 1.26 billion vodka market and its growing appetite for premium craft spirits.
Tasting notes highlight its exceptional smoothness, subtle citrus, and a gentle grainy texture with a hint of spice. Bottled at 40 percent ABV, Hudka is available in Uttarakhand at ₹1,320.
