The Jack Daniel’s Distillery has introduced Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Special Release Tanyard Hill Rye whiskey, matured in one of the oldest barrel houses at the distillery.

Tanyard Hill, located next to the acclaimed Coy Hill at the Jack Daniel Distillery, is home to four barrel houses built in the early 1960s.

The latest edition entered new handmade American White Oak barrels in November 2015 and matured in Barrel House 1 atop Tanyard Hill, experiencing the deep winter and summer cycles of the hollow, resulting in a one-of-a-kind expression fit for the Jack Daniel’s Special Release series.

“The Special Release series has been a great way for us to showcase our craft of whiskey making here in Lynchburg,” said Chris Fletcher, Master Distiller at Jack Daniel’s. “We’re fortunate to have barrel houses at so many unique locations that produce deep, rich and complex whiskeys. Tanyard Hill has been one of the hidden gems for locals familiar with the distillery grounds. We’re now bringing more people into this secret.”

The new release features a mash bill of 70 percent rye, 18 percent corn and 12 percent malted barley, and is charcoal filtered before maturing in new oak barrels, delivering dark fruit and sweet oak on the nose with flavours of candied mint, dark chocolate and layers of baking spice. It finishes with notes of clove and sweet tobacco with a long-lasting oak balance.

At an ABV ranging 65.10 percent – 74.40 percent, Special Release Tanyard Hill Rye is available in 700 ml bottles across the US in limited quantities with a suggested retail price of USD 79.99.
