Kavalan unveils Lunar New Year Gift Set

Taiwanese single malt producer Kavalan has introduced a special Lunar New Year Gift Set to mark the Year of the Horse, spotlighting its award-winning Triple Sherry Cask Single Malt Whisky. The limited-edition release celebrates the Lunar New Year, which falls on February 17 this year, a symbol of prosperity, vitality and good fortune.

Bottled at 43 percent ABV in a 700 ml format, the Kavalan Triple Sherry Cask carries a suggested retail price of USD 114.99. The expression recently earned a Double Gold Medal at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, reinforcing its standing among premium sherry-matured whiskies.

The whisky is matured in a rare trio of sherry casks Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez (PX) and Moscatel each contributing distinct layers of flavour. Kavalan’s signature velvety mouthfeel and natural sweetness are central to the profile, with dried fruit notes from Oloroso complemented by the rich sweetness of PX and Moscatel, often referred to as the king and queen of sweet sherry.

The Year of the Horse Gift Set is presented in an ornate design that reflects both cultural symbolism and the brand’s Taiwanese heritage. A golden horse, representing vitality and good fortune, is depicted stepping over blooming peonies, a traditional symbol of prosperity. Flowing gold lines mirror Taiwan’s misty mountain landscapes, while the tin capsule features a double silver line inspired by the Central Mountain and Snow Mountain ranges surrounding the Kavalan Distillery.

The bottle is paired with a tulip-shaped snifter, designed to enhance aroma and elevate the tasting experience. The label artwork uses white, gold and red tones to reflect the layered character of the three sherry casks and the visual journey from new make spirit to mature whisky.
