French spirits giant La Martiniquaise-Bardinet has launched Cutty Sark 17 Year Old, a triple-cask matured premium expression that builds on the brand’s century-long spirit of adventure.

The expression is a blend of malt whiskies in sherry and port casks, and fine-grain whisky aged in bourbon casks, which gives it a layered profile that adds richness and depth to Cutty Sark’s signature smoothness. On the palate it delivers candied orange peel, red cherries, plums and chocolate, with gentle spice.

“To create this rich blend, we first selected fine, aged Highland and Speyside single malts, and married them together for 17 months in hand-picked sherry and port casks. Then we united those malts with Lowland grain whisky matured in first-fill bourbon casks, for exceptional creaminess,” explained Stephen Woodcock, Master Blender, Cutty Sark.

Presented in an elegant black gift box, the expression features gold lettering and the brand’s signature yellow detailing, complemented by nautical design elements, such as a rope and eyelet motif and a rope-effect stopper, reinforcing the brand’s maritime heritage.

“This whisky stands out for its complex character, exceptional quality and packaging. It is an ideal gift for every whisky connoisseur with adventure in their DNA,” commented Manon Brochet, Senior Brand Manager – International, La Martiniquaise-Bardinet.

At 42.3 percent ABV, Cutty Sark 17 is available worldwide at RRP of £85 to £90. Next year, the company plans to roll it out in travel retail across Europe, Asia Pacific and Americas.
