Redbreast unveils Moscatel Wine Cask Edition Whiskey
Redbreast Irish Whiskey has announced the launch of Redbreast Moscatel Wine Cask Edition, the fifth release in its award-winning Iberian Series. The new expression continues the brand’s exploration of fortified wine cask maturation, drawing on its long-standing links with the Iberian Peninsula.
The whiskey is initially matured in a combination of ex-American whiskey barrels and Spanish Oloroso sherry casks, before undergoing a 16-month finishing period in Málaga Moscatel wine-seasoned hogsheads.
For the project, the team at Midleton Distillery partnered with Bodegas Quitapenas, where European oak casks were seasoned with Moscatel wine for two years prior to being filled with a bespoke batch of Redbreast Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey.

The flavour profile opens with notes of tangerine and orange peel, alongside chamomile, nutmeg and cedarwood. Wine-seasoned oak brings vanilla, floral honey and glazed fruit sweetness, complemented by subtle pot still spices of black pepper and clove.
Master Blender David McCabe described the launch as a tribute to Redbreast’s heritage dating back to the late 1800s and its historic association with sherry and fortified wines.
Bottled at 46 percent ABV, the release delivers a citrus-forward, Mediterranean character layered with sweet and spiced complexity. Redbreast Moscatel Wine Cask Edition is priced at USD 109.99.
