Sazerac launches Garavogue 20 YO Irish Whiskey
The Sazerac Company has officially launched its first Irish whiskey from Hawk’s Rock Distillery with the debut of Garavogue 20 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey, marking a significant milestone for the spirits giant.
Crafted by Master Blender Helen Mulholland, the first female Master Blender in Irish whiskey history, the limited-release expression reflects a bold take on maturation techniques and blending tradition with innovation. Named after the Garavogue River flowing through Sligo town into the Atlantic Ocean, the whiskey pays homage to its Irish roots while embracing a contemporary, experimental character.
Garavogue’s double-distilled spirit is aged for 14 years in ex-bourbon American oak casks, before undergoing finishing in a unique combination of casks: French Muscat, French Sauternes, Spanish Pedro Ximénez Sherry, and Barbadian Rum. The result is a 94-proof whiskey that showcases layered complexity.
According to official tasting notes, Sauternes casks impart vanilla, warm peach, and spun sugar aromas, while Muscat and Sherry contribute floral and raisin tones. The palate unfolds with vanilla, citrus, ripe apples, and a sweet fruit-driven finish.
Garavogue 20 Year Old rolled out in June 2025 in limited quantities across the United States, Ireland, United Kingdom, and Duty-Free outlets. Its 700 ml bottle is priced at $199. Select quantities will also be available through Legacy de Forge, Sazerac’s premium bottle platform powered by Blockbar.
