The Glenlivet revives small batch collection with new flavour profiles

The Glenlivet has reintroduced its Small Batch Collection, unveiling refreshed flavour profiles across the range while retaining the same age statements as its original release. The single malt lineup once again features a 17 YO, a 19 YO and a 20 YO expression.

The updated flavour profiles have been crafted by The Glenlivet’s cask master Kevin Balmforth and his team. Balmforth, who recently assumed the role of master blender at Chivas Brothers following Sandy Hyslop’s retirement, said the collection highlights the breadth of flavours that can be achieved through careful cask selection and combination.

According to Balmforth, the 17 YO offers bright apple and citrus notes that evolve into a sweet, floral complexity. The 19 YO showcases rich dark fruits and spices, leading to a sweet, aromatic finish, while the 20 YO delivers orchard fruits and warming spices, resulting in a notably syrupy and fruity character. Together, the three whiskies are designed to present a gradual progression of flavour while preserving The Glenlivet’s house style.

Each expression is bottled at cask strength and is non-chill-filtered. The whiskies are named after the dominant flavour profile derived from their cask maturation or cask combinations.

The Glenlivet 17 YO Wildflower Honey is matured exclusively in first-fill American oak and is priced at US$179, with 9,900 bottles released.

The Glenlivet 19 YO Indulgent Chocolate combines whisky matured in first-fill American oak, first-fill Sherry casks and second-fill ex-Scotch barrels. It carries a retail price of US$256 and is limited to 3,936 bottles.

The Glenlivet 20 YO Orchard Fruitiness is matured using a combination of first-fill American oak, second-fill ex-Scotch and second-fill American oak hogsheads. Limited to 2,736 bottles, it is priced at US$349.

All three expressions are available globally through selected retailers and at The Glenlivet’s distillery in Speyside, Scotland.
